Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
C-TRAN’s DEI Team, formed in 2020, has continued to build on its work from years past to establish C-TRAN as a welcoming and diverse workplace and community partner. The team focuses on internal initiatives, often centered around educating employees, as well as external activities to support our community. In 2024, the team:

- Hosted internal educational events, including lunch and learn sessions and movie screenings
- Distributed educational activities to employees
- Attended DEI-related events to establish a community presence and engage with passengers
- Continued the DEI Book Club, using literature as a catalyst for discussion surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion
- Participated in C-TRAN’s benefits fair, hosted by the Wellness Committee, to interact with employees and share information about the team’s purpose and activities
- Provided input on the agency’s equitable engagement framework to ensure that community engagement efforts include historically marginalized and underserved communities
Events & Community Outreach
C-TRAN is always seeking out new ways to connect with the community and ensure meaningful, equitable public participation in our work. In 2024, C-TRAN was honored to participate in a record number of community events and meetings throughout the year—more than 150 in all—including parades, resource fairs, multicultural festivals, and more. The agency also created a new Community Engagement Coordinator position to help strengthen relationships and foster two-way communication with all our neighbors and community partners.
Some of the bigger events C-TRAN participated in:
- Juneteenth at Esther Short
- Ridgefield Fourth of July Parade
- Portland Pride Parade
- Clark County Fair
- Veterans Day Parade
We also conducted targeted outreach related to detours and service changes and worked tirelessly to ensure we were listening and responding to the needs of our passengers. We are proud of the work we do and the community we serve.
