Transit Matters Header large
A C-TRAN Route 25 bus and The Vine on Mill Plain bus drive past each other in opposite directions. They are on Evergreen Boulevard and C Street in downtown Vancouver near the Vancouver Community Library, which is visible in the background.
The Vancouver Community Library in downtown Vancouver is accessible by multiple C-TRAN bus routes.

Libraries and public transit agencies are kindred spirits. Both exist to provide a specific service, but at C-TRAN, we’re more than just a bus company, and we understand that the library is more than just a library. People may use libraries and buses because they don’t otherwise have access to books or transportation. However, many people choose to use them to save money, reduce their carbon footprint, or for social contact. Whatever the reason for utilization, they’re communal resources available to everyone.

It’s obvious that you can check out physical copies of books with a library card, but did you know that there are countless other benefits it gives you access to? Better yet, it’s free!

The amount and variety of resources that Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries (FVRL) offers are impressive. To name a few highlights:

  • eBooks and audiobooks
  • Legal information
  • Career development
  • Movies and music
  • Genealogy
  • Magazines
  • Language learning
  • Exam prep
  • Investments and stocks
  • Crafting and DIY
  • Research databases and academic journals

With such a wealth of information available, there’s something for everyone. Pro tip: Take a spin through some of these categories and learn something new during your commute! Whether you’re reading an eBook, studying for an exam, listening to music, watching a movie, or learning a new language, you can maximize your time by doing something engaging during your bus ride. And for many families, the library itself is the destination. Interactive story-time events for babies and toddlers, plus other programs for kids and teens, make the library an indispensable outing.

There are numerous Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries branches accessible by transit in Clark County. The Camas Public Library is not part of the FVRL system, but it also offers resources like research databases and career development courses. If you don’t have your card yet, sign up today and start exploring!
