Every day, thousands of people depend on C-TRAN to get them from Point A to Point B. Our fleet carried about 6 million total trips in 2016, from commutes to concerts and everything in between. It’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.
Plenty of riders know the C-TRAN system inside and out. But there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make this operation hum. We’re launching Transit Matters, C-TRAN’s new blog, to offer a window into how and why we do what we do. Here you’ll find stories about some of the people on our team. You’ll find stories about some of the people on our buses. You’ll find insights into the decisions we make. You’ll find features and facts about public transportation in our region.
This blog – and this agency – isn’t just for people who ride the bus. We serve every taxpayer who helps support C-TRAN through local sales taxes. We want to do our part to make this community better, and we want the community to be better informed about the service that your fares and tax dollars fund. C-TRAN has made a big push recently to be more visible and more accessible on a growing menu of digital platforms. Consider this blog another part of that effort.
This is an exciting time in the 35-year history of C-TRAN. We just finished the biggest project in our history in The Vine. It opened in January 2017 as the first bus rapid transit system to operate in the Portland-Vancouver region. And as we dust off our long-range plans in the next few years, we (and you) will be charting the future of public transportation in Clark County for decades to come.
This blog will be maintained by C-TRAN staff. Got ideas? Send them our way to feedback@c-tran.com.
Thanks very much for reading.
